How to Read a Product Page

Every material listing on Matera follows the same layout. The top of the page shows the product image, name, category, and the supplier who listed it. You will also see the supplier's tier badge - green 'Verified' if they have at least one independently checked certification, or grey 'Unverified' if verification is still pending.

Key specifications appear inline beneath the product name - typically up to four values that the supplier considers most important for that product (such as thermal conductivity, density, thickness, or fire rating).

Price is shown where available, or a 'Request Quote' link if the supplier prefers to quote on enquiry. Stock status appears as a chip on the product image: 'In Stock', 'Limited', or 'Pre-order', with expected restock dates shown when relevant.

The first two tabs - Description and Use & Application - contain supplier-authored text. The description covers what the product is and its key characteristics. The usage notes cover where and how the product should be used, including any application guidance the supplier wants to share.

This content is written by the supplier and published as submitted. It is not independently verified by Matera, so treat it as you would any manufacturer's product literature - useful context for shortlisting, but not a substitute for your own technical assessment.

The Technical Data & Docs tab shows a specifications table and any downloadable documents the supplier has uploaded - datasheets, test certificates, installation guides, or compliance documents.

Specifications are key-value pairs submitted by the supplier. They are not standardised across products, so the fields you see will vary by product category. For insulation you might see thermal conductivity, density, and fire class. For timber you might see species, grade, and moisture content.

Downloadable documents appear with their file type and size. These are supplier-uploaded files - Matera hosts them but does not verify their contents.

The Shipping & Delivery tab shows the supplier's stated delivery terms, lead times, and any logistics notes. This information is supplier-maintained and may change - for time-sensitive procurement, confirm availability directly before ordering.

The availability chip on the product image gives a quick read: green 'In Stock' means the supplier reports immediate availability, amber 'Limited' means stock is constrained, and 'Pre-order' means the product is not yet available but can be reserved. Expected restock dates are shown where the supplier has provided them.

The Environmental Data tab is where embodied carbon information appears. What you see depends on the quality of data available for that product.

If the product has a verified EPD, you will see a detailed carbon card showing the A1–A3 production-stage figure, any additional lifecycle stages the EPD covers, the declared unit, and a green verification badge. The source EPD is cited and may be linked.

If no EPD exists but a category benchmark is available, you will see the benchmark figure with an amber 'Category estimate' label and a note explaining that this is not product-specific.

If no carbon data exists at all, you will see a message directing you to contact the supplier. This is honest - a gap is better than a guess.

The Sourcing & Transparency tab shows where the product comes from and how it is made. When verified sourcing data is available, you will see origin country, manufacturing location, source type (virgin, recycled, bio-based, or mixed), and recycled content percentage.

For multi-component products, a component breakdown table shows these details for each component individually - for example, the core, frame, and finish of a composite panel may each come from different countries with different recycled content.

A transparency level badge (High, Partial, or Low) summarises how complete the sourcing disclosure is. High means all components have full origin and manufacturing data. Partial means some gaps exist. Low means only basic information has been provided.

If sourcing data has been verified by the Matera team, a green 'Verified by Matera' badge appears at the top of the tab. If it is still pending review, an amber badge indicates this.

Certifications appear on both the supplier profile and individual material listings. Each certification shows its type, issuing body, certificate number, and validity dates.

The key distinction is between 'Verified' (green checkmark) and 'Not yet verified' (blue indicator). Verified means the Matera team has checked the claim against external registries. Not yet verified means the supplier has declared it but it has not been independently confirmed.

Expired certifications are flagged in red. Certifications approaching expiry show a warning with the remaining time.

Beyond reading, the product page supports several procurement actions.
